Quiet

Once again I have gone quiet. There are a few reasons.

  1. The behavior of many people at LANL and LLNL at the moment appears to be the reduction of cognitive dissonance. They are not paying attention to the events nationally that will affect their future and will not pay attention until they are laid off. So, there is little productive to say.
  2. I have a positive CD of pictures of Los Alamos and the surrounding area coming out in a few days, so I have been focusing on that.
  3. I am helping to create the next generation of engines. This also occupies a lot of time.
  4. I no longer believe that a blog is an effective method for starting a group that will effect changes for the good at LANL, so my efforts are going to other places. I am willing to be proved wrong on this point.

The talent but not the skills

Over the last few years, I have tried to understand why my scientific career did not go as fast or as far as I wanted it to.

The answer appears to be that I had the scientific talent but not the organizing, completing, or money raising skills.

I have been trying to learn these new skills so that the science goes faster.

LLNL

Much of what appears to be going on at LLNL is worse than what happened at LANL.

Small comfort.
